Arabidopsis Plasmodesmata

Scanning electron micrographs of a critically point dried (CPD) leaf from an Arabidopsis thaliana plant. Tissue level organisation can be observed (top left panel), as well as submicron detail, such as the plasmodesmata pitfields in the cell walls (lower left panel). Plasmodesmata are pore-like structures that connect plant cells with each other (Dr. Tina Schreier, Group of Prof. Julian Hibberd, Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge).
